Our Vision
We believe that climate solutions work best when they’re shaped by communities and for communities. We envision a country where every community harnesses the power of decarbonization to build a future that is healthy, equitable, prosperous, and affordable for all.
The Opportunity
Across the country, community climate leaders are proving what’s possible. Some, for example, have achieved solar adoption rates three to seven times higher than their state averages. These pathfinders are driving bottom-up action, harnessing renewable power and electrification to create more affordable, resilient, and thriving communities.
Many community leaders, however, need more resources, connections, and support to sustain and scale their impact. There is an opportunity for these leaders to join forces to learn, collaborate, and innovate together, in order to achieve even greater progress. Climate Action Pathfinders makes this possible through sustained peer learning and dialogue, strategic support from staff, and input from world-class experts.
The Challenge
The climate crisis threatens our health, ecosystems, and livelihoods. Those who contributed least to the crisis will bear its worst consequences.
The U.S. is one of the world’s largest emitters, yet national leadership cannot be counted on. Renewable energy and electrification are local solutions that create jobs, lower costs for families, and protect the planet. Despite the short-and long-term benefits, adoption still lags far behind what’s needed to address the problem.
Our Roadmap for Action
Phase ONE
Accelerate Progress in Targeted Communities
1. Convene a select group of community climate leaders to share insights, practices and challenges. By sharing best practices, innovating and learning together over time, these leaders can deepen their progress - and help accelerate action in other communities.
2. Build a resource network of leading academics, business experts, and practitioners who can support these communities, based on their needs, with ideas and technologies to accelerate their progress.
3. Launch a dynamic online platform for ongoing connection, collaboration, and support.
Phase Two
Scale Impact Nationwide
1. Expand support to an ever-larger number of communities through convenings, networking, and online resources.
2. Forge partnerships with larger climate entities to broaden our reach.
3. Demonstrate and replicate success in communities across the country.
Who We Are
This is a strategic initiative of the Higher Ambition Leadership Alliance which has decades of experience in successfully connecting, convening and catalyzing pathfinder leaders to achieve remarkable results in a range of domains—from positively transforming workplaces across a range of industries, to improving the lives of millions of children worldwide, to dramatically improving outcomes across a range of healthcare institutions.
