Founder Strategic Leadership & Learning, Faculty Higher Ambition Leadership InstituteMette Norgaard, Ph. D., works with executive teams that are in transition and advises CEOs and CHROs on how to build a distinct leadership brand. Mette is also co-creator of the Higher Ambition Leadership Institute.

My purpose is to help leaders heed the better angels of their nature and exercise ever better judgment. I discovered this work about 25 years ago when I directed the one-week Executive Retreat for the Covey Leadership Center at Sundance, UT, while earning a Ph.D. in Human & Organizational Development.

Since founding the boutique firm Strategic Leadership & Learning in 2004, I have written The Ugly Duckling Goes to Work (an international bestseller) and co-authored TouchPoints with Doug Conant (a NYT bestseller). I also write a leadership column for the Danish Financial paper Børsen. Clients typically seek me out to design comprehensive learning experiences for their executive team or the global-level leadership team.

Starting in 2006, I partnered with Doug Conant on the Campbell’s CEO Institute; that program became the foundation for the Alliance’s Higher Ambition Leadership Institute (HALI).

Today I am excited to also work with young leaders who are called to heal our world. How do we prepare them to lead us through the Polycrisis? In that context I now support initiatives like Cohort 2040.

On a personal note, I was raised in a village of 900 on the northwest coast of Denmark and has lived the in New York City the past 30 years. My husband is from Madrid, and each summer we leave the sweltering heat of City for the cool climate in A Coruña, Spain.
